Behold The Power, Behold The Violence!
A NOTE ABOUT THIS MIX: There has been a lot of discussion over the question of what is (or was) powerviolence. This mix was not intended to define the term. It is a collection of artists connected by time and place or aesthetic. If you want to sit around and debate whether any of the artists included are truly POWERVIOLENCE bands you can eat my ass, scenester.
Also, CHARLES BRONSON was not included. Because I think they suck.
Hope you enjoy,
Lucas

ReplyDeleteGreat stuff so not for work! i enjoy this stuff so much.
Greetings,
Eddy
No Pillsbury hardcore or Pissed happy children!! For shame! I'd edit that list ASAP!!
ReplyDeletegreat and thorough list.
ReplyDeletedig the preface. agreed.
you rock my world baby. Personally i wouldve done something cheesy like putting hsmp as the very first track then putting in the bands listed in order (crossed out, no comment, man pig cap.cassualties,.), but i wouldntve been able to list these many great bands.keep it up man, more mixtapes, and thanks!
ReplyDeletenice...but i will say 'what about seige?', the originators in my opinion...oh, and should have had 93 93/93 by e.b. on
ReplyDeletebut what the fuck do i know, never heard of half these cunts
sorry i haven't written lately man, too much head wrong stuff going on right now...and then you've got fucking christmas just around the corner...it's a wonder i can even make it out of bed most days
needs short hate temper and unanswered.
ReplyDeletenice to see apartment 213 though.
Thanks for including Suppression!!! It's an honor to be included amongst these other bad ass sickies!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat fucking mix - nailed it.
ReplyDeleteFuckin' killer. At first I was pissed that all the songs were on two tracks, and then I got the "wait-which-band-is-this" feeling from the old days when I would make tapes and forget what the Hell I put on there.
ReplyDeletePat on the back.
Rules! Thanks for the time and effort you put into this!!!
ReplyDeletesiege is the og powerviolence band. i don't know if i'd call floor powerviolence. i guess the same thing can be said about powerviolence as emo. i think everyone would be preferred to be called a hardcore band
ReplyDeletei dont think siege would prefer to be called the og's of anything.
ReplyDeleteDo you have "Speed Freaks 3" (A Compilation)? The lyrics for the Suppression track 'Seal Of Approval' somehow say it all
ReplyDelete'Fear what you don't understand...
Labeling and categories.
Are you here because you "feel" it?
Or is this just more generic cloning?
You're here to suck us all dry.
Is this fucking "power violence" enough for you, asshole?!?!'
Nice. Anyway thanks for this post as well as this blog.I love it!! Keep it movin'!
Here's a link to download "Speed Freaks 3"(A Compilation):

I don't think siege give a fucking flying one,and aren't even "powerviolence" (It was an in joke like cheese thrash) leave that to bridge nine kids who just found this music to debate over. good god at Thomsk 7, AZ had some great bands
ReplyDeleteGreat comp.
AGATHOCLES
ReplyDeleteit's only powervirulence if eric wood said so
ReplyDeletei must prefer this to the where's your beard comp! but as a mix it needs to kill more.
ReplyDeletejust when I was burning out... thank you, and also thanks to the musicians
ReplyDeleteyawn. are you gonna flip me the bird now, "rebel" creep? Let's have a fistfight, I love ABBA. Sincerely.
ReplyDeletepower violence- weakling losers
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI just saw Bastard Noise in Portland. Connell was back on drums (for the tour, at least). And it totally ruled. They've got a split 12" coming out soon. Should be worth checking out.
Thanks, but I'm going to listen to this one side at a time. I mean really; 90 minutes?
ReplyDeleteCheers again. I really miss the times when music was just punk or disco or folk etc. Now you have to deal with millions of subgenres and even more annoying are people who argue is this band part of this or that subgenre. I mean it is soooo fucking anal (in freudian sense). Well, probably it is more fun than discussing about weather, or is it?

and you would get the manpig song from where?
I've always though of trying to make one of these collections, from the roots (Youth Korps, YDI, Siege, Infest etc) through first wave (Neanderthal/MITB, Crossed Out etc) and end with the 2nd wave (Despise You, Supression, Crom etc). Even had the cheesy idea of using the poster art for the movie "A History of Violence" and photoshopping a spray-painted looking "power" over the word violence. Yeah, corny. Trying to pick all the bands and songs just gave me a huge headache.
Cheers to your great mix of angry music.
Vin
Respectable, man.
ReplyDeleteKiller Comp!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Stormy, making a comp like this would split my brain in two!
awesome collection of tracks right there. i'd sub insect warfare with knuckle scraper. and thanks for the scarecrow cd, nothing better than early three six
ReplyDeleteI've made PV mixes for friend, but this one looks amazing! Can you re-upload this on to mediafire?
ReplyDeleteBTW, your blog is the Go To place for everything amazing, Keep it up!!!!
