A mixed 5 years...
"I put this together after hearing the essential DJ Chaos Live Mixxx (Yamataka Eye); the JD Twitch’s CD compilation that accompanied his 10 Inches of Fear re-edits; and having Fergus “Fergadelic” Purcell play me a great Modern English tune from 1980 (included at the end of this selection). All reminded me of a time when the 1970s turned into the 1980s and UK punk rock turned into something different. This selection is mostly British (all but one tune) and spans 5 years from 1978-1983. It was a dark time in the UK as Thatcher took hold of the reigns of power. Let the dirge commence."

Robert Welch of The John Birch Society in 1974 quoting from a speech he made in 1958 about the criminal insider policies of The U.S./U.N. agenda; privatisation and the merging from within the establishment of banks, private foundations/corporations, think tanks and other non-governmental organisations. Ultimately gaining control socially, geopolitically and economically. Eerily reminiscent of todays state of affairs.

Folklorist Dr Harry Oster had discovered Williams in Angola Penitentiary, serving a life sentence for murder, Robert Pete's self-taught, modal guitar playing, and long, improvised blues about his life and feelings, often unrhymed and semi-spoken, at once marked him out as a unique blues artist.It was thanks largely to Oster's efforts that when these recordings were made, Robert Pete was free on parole, although, as The Hay Cutting Song wittily notes, it was a harsh kind of freedom, working 80 hours a week for $75 a month. In his songs, Robert Pete unflinchingly confronts a world in which loneliness, death and approaching old age loom large. Williams, born in 1914, is now dead.
